The Alliance of Churches met this morning at Mt Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna. Here are the highlights of that meeting.
There were ten members present.
Tim Gossett opened the meeting with prayer. Minutes from the last meeing were read and approved.
Under old business LaRue Parr from Bethany Village reported that they have two part time helpers, but need four. Everyone was encouraged to keep promoting this need in their respective churches.
Under new business, Serena Smith from Rural Health, and United Recovery Coalition was introduced as a guest with Kent Young. She works with recovering addicts, and homeless people on a daily basis in her job for both organizations. She informed the members of various helps available to those in need and where to find them. Also, she told about a new “catch and release” program in the police departments. Rather than locking up chronic offenders with drug realted issues they are booking them and then taking them to a place for help. She mentioned that Arrowleaf has new grants and are offering several new programs to help people get off the streets, and off their addicitions. Everyone was encouraged to learn of work going on in Union County to help our population with addictions and all the ramifications of that habit.
Motion was made to adjourn, was seconded, and carried.
NEXT MEEING WILL BE AT THE METHODIST CHURCH IN ANNA, AT 8:30AM, ON DECEMBER 6th.
Meeting was adjourned.
